The commandments enlighten

The commandments may seem like cold boundaries when viewed from a distance. But they come from a God who knows the human heart and understands what builds it up and what wounds it. Stealing, lying, using others, or forgetting God are not evils simply because they are forbidden; they are forbidden because they cause harm. The law of God protects true life. For a Christian, this is not just an idea. It has to do with a living relationship with God: trusting, listening, asking for help, asking for forgiveness, and starting again. It is not enough to understand it; it must touch prayer and everyday decisions.
