Christ is the center of the Bible

The Bible is enormous and varied, and not everything carries the same weight. There is a thread that gives it unity: everything points to Christ. The Old Testament prepares for him; the New reveals him. He is the heart that gives order to the rest. That helps when a passage strikes you as strange or you don't understand it. Instead of getting stuck on an isolated verse, you read it in the light of the whole and of Christ, who is the key. Reading the Bible is not collecting detached phrases, but gradually getting to know Someone. When you seek him, even the driest books begin to make sense.
