Believing is not having an opinion

Sometimes we use "believe" as a synonym for having an opinion: "I think it will rain tomorrow." There is a hunch there, nothing certain. Christian faith is something else. It is not a guess or a calculation of probabilities about God. It is rather a light that touches you within and at the same time a decision to trust. You don't understand everything, but you recognize something true and take a step toward it, like someone who trusts someone who loves them. That is why it does not stand on arguments alone, even though it has reasons. Understanding this removes pressure. You do not have to be "one hundred percent sure" as in an exam. You have to open up, look, and trust.
