Being spiritual does not make you less human
If your faith makes you distant, perhaps it is not yet touching your whole heart.
St. Josemaría spoke of living with one's head in heaven and one's feet on the ground. Jesus, model of holiness, was not a cold or disconnected person: he paid attention, welcomed people, and valued human gestures of affection.
Sometimes we confuse spiritual life with speaking strangely, despising the everyday, or always seeming solemn.
But grace does not erase your humanity; it heals it and makes it more capable of friendship, humor, work, and tenderness. The test appears in daily dealings. Praying should help you listen better, ask forgiveness sooner, and be more present. The closer to God, the more fully human you are called to be.
