Being available to God isn't saying yes to everything
You can serve a lot and still have judgment, plans and limits.
Being available is sometimes confused with saying yes to every request, changing plans at anyone's opinion or waiting for signs about decisions that are yours to make. It looks like generosity, but it can be fear of disappointing people.
Being available to God doesn't mean being left without a personality. You have desires, talents and responsibilities, and you offer them so that God can guide them, not so that they disappear. That's why you need to tell which request comes from love and which comes from pressure, fear or someone else's disorder.
Availability isn't a lack of judgment. You can serve and set limits, change paths and stand by a decision. True docility doesn't make you soft: it lets you respond wholeheartedly to the good you see.
Key idea
Being available to God is offering him who you are, not saying yes to everyone who asks.
Your challenge for this idea
Before accepting a request today, ask yourself whether your yes comes from freedom or from fear of disappointing.
